Reversable Dropstitch Shopping or Beach Bag

Materials:
1 Skein Cotton Fleece Yarn by Brown Sheep (Approx. 215 Yards)

One size 7 by 16 inch long Circular Needle.

Gauge:
Measured Over Pattern, 4 Stitches and 5 Rows = One Inch

Finished Size:
Approximately 15 1/2 Inches Wide By 13 Inches High, Including Top Handles.

Directions:
Cast on 126 sts. (This will be the top part of theHandle).

Join, being careful stitches are not twisted. Place a marker at beginning of round.

K 1 round, P 1 round (this is a garter st. on circular needles), for 4 rounds. (4 ridges)

Handle Opening:
Knitting around, bind off 43 sts., K 20 sts., bind off next 43 sts., K last 20 sts.

Next round, in P st., cast on 30 sts., P across 20 sts., cast on 30 sts., P last 20 sts. (100 sts.) P 1 round.

Start Bag Pattern:
Row 1: *K 1, Y O*, repeating around.
Row 2: K the K sts., and slip the YO's as if to K.
Row 3: *K the K sts. and drop the YO's around.
(This will make a loose stitch. Before beginning the next round, pull down on bottom of row all around to "elongate" stitches in row. This will make a loose, but stretchy stitch pattern on this row).

Repeat these 3 rounds until about 13" from the beginning, ending on a row 3. Leaving enough yarn to K 1 round even, then bind off in K st and sew up bottom of bag.

To sew bottom of bag: Lay bag flat on table and have handles evenly spaced both sides front and back. Pin bottom seam and sew firmly.

Sew bottom of bag securely and neatly for a reversable bag.

Weave in and trim all thread ends and enjoy your new bag!
